Earlier this year, the DfE (Department for Education) announced their commitment to establishing a national network of English Hubs to improve the teaching of early language and literacy in schools. Schools with an excellent track record in phonics teaching were invited to submit an application to become an English Hub. We are delighted that to inform you that we were successful with our application and have subsequently been appointed as an English Hub school, one of only 32 schools across the whole of England.
English hub schools will promote a love of reading and support schools across the country to provide excellent phonics and early language teaching. In 2019/2020 we will have specialist literacy teachers who will have received additional training to act as experts in teaching early language and reading from Reception to Key Stage One. Our specialist teachers will be able to offer school-to-school support for primary schools across the North West (Cheshire West and Chester, Wirral, Liverpool, Halton).
A list of all 32 English Hubs can be found by following this link: www.gov.uk/government/publications/english-hubs-list-of-primary-schools/english-hubs-list-of-primary-schools
For this academic year (2018/2019) we are running a series of free Phonic Roadshow days at The Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port which will involve presentations from our English Hub team and other phonic/early reading specialists. You will also be able to observe our children and staff participating in phonic and reading workshops. Following a free lunch, we will support schools in reviewing and auditing their own practice, and writing an action plan for improvement. Please see our flyer for further information.
If you are interested in attending one of our Roadshows, please register your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org stating:
